When it comes to smaller SUVs, they have not been received well in North American car market, especially in the United States. For a long while, experts believe that this kind of vehicle can’t make it in a demanding North American car market and it seemed that the all major car manufacturers are preparing to stop offering small SUVs. However, GMC decided to try with just one model – the GMC Terrain, and it appears that this model had what it takes to win customers over. Now, the American manufacturer plans to unveil the all-new 2017 GMC Terrain.
2017 GMC Terrain Exterior
The new 2017 GMC Terrain is based on the popular GM’s Theta platform and because of that it is quite small in size (compared to full-size SUVs), but it will have good performance and it should be quite comfortable. The front of the car is still dominated by the really large chrome grille, which houses the enormous red GMC logo. Furthermore, the American manufacturer decided to use new headlights on the GMC Terrain 2017 and an interesting design for the front bumper – it has a large chrome line going from one LED fog light to another.
The back of the car now has more chrome than ever – newly designed taillights are located in a C-shaped chrome bar and the two taillights are connected by quite large chrome bar which houses the red GMC logo in the back. Along with that, the rear bumper has similar chrome line like the one in the front. However, keep in mind that all these chrome accents are shown on the official images, which probably show the most expensive version of the 2017 GMC Terrain.
GMC Terrain 2017 Interior
When you take a look at the interior of the GMC Terrain 2017, it appears that American manufacturer decided not to introduce any major changes. The interesting thing is the two-tone interior (on the images is shown a black and grey color mix), which looks stunning. The three-spoke steering wheel is the same as the one used in the predecessor and it is still multifunctional with lots of buttons.
The center of the dashboard is dominated by a large touchscreen display, which can be used both for satellite navigation and control of the infotainment system. According to the GMC officials, the new 2017 GMC Terrain is going to offer the popular 4G LTE and WiFi hotspot in every version of this SUV.
GMC Terrain Engine
The new GMC Terrain should be offered with the same engines as its predecessor. The base version is going to have the 2.4l 4-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque.
The second, more powerful engine is the 3.6l V6 engine that should produce around 300 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are going to be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and it will come with the front-wheel drive while the all-wheel drive will be optional.
2017 GMC Terrain Price and Release Date
The price of 2017 GMC Terrain starts around $27,000 and its sale has officially started in October 2016.
