When the first generation of the Audi RS Q3 hit the market in 2013, nobody knew it will become such a popular model. It now seems that the carmaker is working on the next-gen RS Q3. The test mule was spotted during the test ride and it seems that the changes for the 2017 model year will be numerous. Well, the carmaker hasn’t said much about the 2017 RS Q3, but the vehicle was heavily camouflaged and we immediately concluded it was revamped from bumper to bumper. It wouldn’t wear heavy camouflage otherwise, right? Or maybe the carmaker only wants to draw attention? Let’s find out what 2017 Audi RS Q3 brings to the table in terms of exterior, interior, and engine department.
2017 Audi RS Q3 Exterior
The vehicle will be changed in many ways compared to the previous generation but the changes won’t have any influence on its overall shape. First of all, the vehicle will be equipped with a set of new 19-inch wheels. A set of 20-inch units will also be in the game as an optional extra.
Also new will be a pair of xenon headlights and daytime running lights with LED technology. As for the front grille, it will keep the trademark, hexagonal shape. It will be based on the Volkswagen’s Group A5 platform. The rear end of the car will remain mostly unchanged. Several new exterior colors will be offered.
Interior of the new Audi RS Q3
Not many details about the interior design of the 2017 Audi RS Q3 have been released, but we are sure that you will enjoy riding, for many reasons. We would like to single out the vehicle’s pretty tall seating position. Apparently, the cabin of the new RS Q3 will come with only several minor tweaks. Among the changes is a new, digital cluster.
It is the similar unit as the one seen in the 2016 Audi TT. Honestly, we don’t expect major changes since this compact crossover was born just a year ago. The vehicle will keep its distinctive and sporty features. Just like before, its cabin will be wrapped in top-notch materials. Yes, it will be all black just like before.
Audi RS Q3 2017 Engine
Since the Audi RS Q3 is a relatively new model, we assume that the engine will be carried over. It will be propelled by a 2.5-liter, five-cylinder drivetrain. There are some rumors that the updated engine will provide more power. We anticipate that it will be able to produce 370 horses, which is 30-hp oomph compared to the current 340 horses.
Well, this is an unusual engine configuration but as long as it is powerful enough, we will not complain. The engine will spin all four wheels of the crossover and power will be routed through a seven-speed S Tronic transmission. The carmaker claims that the vehicle will be able to sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, with the top speed of 155 mph.
